Chapter 1

The Spirit of Wisdom Explained

Invitation Come, let us sit at the feet of Solomon. See the two women before him, each claiming the living child. Human intellect is baffled. But then, a flash of divine insight, a strange and brilliant command: “Divide the living child in two.” It is a sword of wisdom that pierces the deception and reveals the true mother’s heart (1 Kings 3:16-28). This is Chokmah in action. It is not just knowledge; it is the divine skill to apply knowledge rightly. This is the Spirit you have been given. What This Means The Spirit of Wisdom (Ruach Chokmah) is one of the sevenfold expressions of the Holy Spirit described in Isaiah 11:2. Chokmah (Hebrew) is more than just intellectual knowledge; it is skill, artistry, and the divine ability to see things from God’s perspective and act accordingly. It is the wisdom that framed the universe, and it is the same wisdom that is available to frame your life. The Spirit of Wisdom is not a subject to be studied, but a Person to be known, a Guide to be followed. How It Looks Today Today, the Spirit of Wisdom looks like the parent who knows exactly what to say to reach their rebellious teenager’s heart. It’s the CEO who makes a counter-intuitive business decision that leads to unprecedented growth and kingdom impact. It’s the pastor who discerns the root of a conflict in the church and brings healing and unity. It is you, facing a complex decision, and suddenly receiving a clear, simple, and elegant solution that you know is not from your own mind. Gentle Word Study Chokmah (Hebrew): Skill, wisdom, expertise. It is often used in the Old Testament to describe the skill of a craftsman, like Bezalel, who was filled with the Spirit to build the tabernacle (Exodus 31:3). It is practical, creative, and beautiful. Common Stumbles & Guidance We often mistake information for wisdom. We consume sermons, books, and podcasts, accumulating knowledge without allowing it to be translated into skillful living. The guidance is to move from being a student to being an apprentice. Don’t just learn about wisdom; ask the Spirit of Wisdom to teach you how to live. Ask, “Ruach Chokmah, how do I apply this truth to my marriage, my job, my finances?” Wisdom is knowledge rightly applied. 10 PRAYER POINTS Spirit of Wisdom, I acknowledge You as my Teacher and Guide. Forgive me for relying on my own understanding. I humble myself before You. Fill me afresh, Ruach Chokmah, with Your divine insight. Give me the skill to live my life as a masterpiece for Your glory. I ask for Your wisdom in this specific situation (name it). Let me see my life, my challenges, and my opportunities from Your perspective. Make me a person of wisdom, not just a person of knowledge. Let the Chokmah of God flow through me to bring solutions to the world around me. I consecrate my mind to You. Let it be a vessel for Your thoughts. Thank You for the gift of the Spirit of Wisdom. I receive it now. Exercise (5–10 min) Take one piece of information you have learned recently—from a sermon, a book, or your own Bible study. Close your eyes and hold that thought in your mind. Now, ask the Spirit of Wisdom, “How do You want me to live this out? What is one practical step I can take to apply this truth this week?” Wait for an idea, a picture, or a simple instruction. Write it down. Task (This Week) Face one decision you need to make this week not with a pro/con list, but with a simple prayer: “Spirit of Wisdom, show me the path.” Instead of trying to figure it out, create space to listen. Take a walk, sit in silence, or worship, and trust that the divine solution will come. Affirmation I am not limited to my own understanding. The Spirit of Wisdom lives in me. I have access to the mind of Christ. I see with heaven’s eyes and build with heaven’s skill. My life is a demonstration of the wisdom of God.
